I was recently in Europe with no mobile phone coverage but had a wired connection in my hotel room. I still wanted to use my phone while lazing on my bed watching the Discovery Channel. So I created a WiFi Hotspot on my laptop so I use use my internet connection on my iPhone ‘Reverse Tethering’.
I couldn’t get it to work using windows Mobile Hotspot so I did it like this…It’s quite simple to do and works a treat!
Open a command prompt on your laptop. Search windows and type ‘cmd’ and open.
Create a WiFi hotspot with . . .
netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=Windows_hotspot key=password
ssid= ‘Your hotspot name’
Key= ‘Hotspot password’
Start your hotspot . . .
netsh wlan start hostednetwork
Share your wired Ethernet connection with your new hotspot in windows.
Open Network Connections (Windows Key + X)
Right Click and select Properties of your Ethernet (Wired) internet connection.
Click on the ‘Sharing’ tab
Tick the ‘Allow other network users . . .’
Select your new hotspot from the drop down list and ‘OK’.
Connect to your new hotspot with your iPhone and enjoy sharing your laptops wired internet connection while lazing on your bed!!
